News and Reviews Gadget Technology: Android Mobile OS Technology Leads in Asia

Recently Android Mobile Operating System continues to demonstrate its strength in the arena of Mobile Operation System. After a best-selling smartphone in the United States, an attack platform from Google is now claimed to undermine the hegemony of Symbian in the Asian region.

According GfK's data firm research, the Google OS is already surpass Symbian in the third quarter of 2010 as Asia's most popular operating system as a whole. This figure is better than the value of sales or number of units sold, says Gerrard Tan, Regional Account Director for Telecommunications GfK Asia.

"Our Q3 report shows that the Android beyond the Symbian as the most popular smartphone OS in the context of Asia as a whole, both in sales value and number of units sold," said Gerrard Tan, Regional Account Director for Telecommunications GfK Asia.

But there is a special note of Tan about trends in the region of Southeast Asia, where Symbian is still a leader. Yet according to GfK, sales of Symbian handsets in this area shows the downward trend.

GfK conducted a survey in some countries as the basis of his report, among them Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, South Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. According to Ben Wood, analyst at Insight CSS, China and India's absence from this research does not mean the report is so doubtful Android supernatural powers.

No inclusion of large Asian countries like India and China in the GfK research does not mean that the validity of Android as an OS most popular becomes questionable. At least so the opinion of Ben Wood, analyst at Insight CSS.

"We recorded the rapid adoption of the Android device is cheap in India and Android handsets from China Mobile is also gaining momentum," said Wood.

Globally, Android is still less than Symbian and was ranked second, but many analysts believe a matter of time this green robot OS will overtake Symbian.
